The Concept

The concept is that we live in such a way that we maintain our physical, intellectual and social abilities well into our eighth, ninth and tenth decades of life. Rather than continuously decline, we grow and stay at high levels of function … the best that we can be … until our time comes. This is called in Compression of Morbidity. Morbidity is sickness and impairment. Therefore, LLDS is about compressing the time we are sick or impaired. Isn’t that what we all want?

The Book

Live Long, Die Short: A Guide to Authentic Health and Successful Aging, is a call to action: for individuals to live a lifestyle that will give them the best chance to maximize their potential as they age; for organizations and communities to become places where older adults can reach their full potential and continue to contribute to the community; and for society to jettison stereotypes of aging that fail to recognize that older adults represent not a problem, but solutions to the many challenges threatening our way of life. The Gathering Place

The gathering place LLDS is this site. This is a place for those who want to improve their aging experience and that of their children, grandchildren, and indeed, everyone. A place where like-minded, committed advocates for successful aging can speak out, learn more, and spend time with those involved in a movement to change the way we all age.
